Celticized head of Persephone to left, wearing wreath of grain leaves and triple pendant earring; before, traces of uncertain legend. Rev. Rose seen from above, with a large central pellet and divided into four segments with floral and cloverleaf patterns. Flesche -. LT -. SLM -. Of the highest rarity and of great interest. A wonderful, toned piece with a particularly impressive reverse. Slightly rough, otherwise, good very fine.


This is certainly one of the most sophisticated Celtic adaptations of the rose of Rhode, which has evolved into a complex and multilayered design of great geometrical beauty.
